A rather grey start with some spots of rain or drizzle. Skies brightening up towards lunchtime with some sunny spells developing by the afternoon. Feeling a little cooler than Sunday but still pleasant in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Dry initially but a band of rain will quickly move in throughout the evening. The rain will turn heavy and persistent at times, giving a wet night across the region. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Tuesday:

Rain will clear east during the morning, with brighter skies developing by lunchtime. A few showers possible during the afternoon, but many areas will be dry and bright. Feeling cooler. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Drier and brighter on Wednesday with spells of sunshine. Another band of rain then moves in for Thursday, before drier and brighter weather returns on Friday. Temperatures likely around average.

Changeable initially, with some dry interludes and relatively cool nights, interspersed with occasional spells of rain and showers arriving from the west, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times too. A trend toward some longer dry interludes between systems as we head toward mid-September, but at this stage a return of prolonged dry, settled weather looks unlikely. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, though still with some relatively cool nights at times.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may eventually start to weaken its influence on the weather towards the end of September. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
