Any overnight frost and fog will soon clear to leave plenty of sunshine to start with on Sunday. Cloud will slowly bubble up during the morning, limiting the sunshine this afternoon, though staying largely dry. Lighter winds than recently. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

The odd shower is possible this evening, but a dry night is expected with clear spells and light winds. A slight frost forming in rural areas by the morning. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday:

Early sunshine will give way to an increase in cloud from the east on Monday. Perhaps a few showers arriving later. A slight easterly breeze developing, though feeling pleasant enough. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Tuesday will start rather cloudy with some showers, though brightening up later. Dry with some sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday, though a brisk wind developing, making it feel rather cool.

High pressure is likely to be centred to the north of the UK through much of this period. Overall, many places will probably be largely dry with clear or sunny periods. There is a chance of some rain or showers at times in the far southwest and northeast, perhaps turning wintry in parts of Scotland. Wind may be strong at times around coasts, mainly in the southwest and northeast. Temperatures will probably be near normal or slightly above for many, but with a risk of colder conditions affecting the north at times.

Slowly evolving weather patterns are likely through the first half of May. Within this, high pressure is likely to be located somewhere to the north or northwest and low pressure closer to southern areas. The orientation of and proximity to the UK of each of these features will be key to regional weather on a day-to-day basis. However, on balance, northern and some western areas are likely be drier, with southern and possibly some eastern parts seeing more in the way of rain or showers. Overall, temperatures probably close to or a little above average, though scope for some cold nights with late season frost, especially in the north.
