A grey and gloomy start to November with low cloud and drizzly outbreaks. This cloud will clear southeastwards into the afternoon, when it will turn drier with a few sunny spells developing. Temperatures around average for the time of year. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Tonight, it will feel much chillier under clear skies with a touch of frost in rural, exposed areas. Remaining dry with light winds. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Monday:

A bright start on Monday, remaining dry throughout for many with just the odd light shower further east. Feeling fresher in a northerly breeze. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Remaining largely dry and fine through the period with high pressure dominating. Plenty of sunny spells on offer, yet with the risk of the odd light shower where cloud thickens.

High pressure will dominate across the UK early in this period, bringing a lot of dry weather. Some places may start foggy, mainly in the north, this slow to clear and possibly even lingering all day. Elsewhere, cloud amounts will be variable, but there should be some sunshine. Cloud is likely to be thick enough at times for a few mainly light showers or some drizzle though. For most, temperatures are likely to be close to normal, though it will be chilly where any fog lingers, and in the breezier south. Some overnight frost is likely where skies are clear and winds remain light. As we head into the following week, there are signs that more unsettled but potentially milder weather may return, but confidence surrounding this change is low.

During the second half of November, there is an increasing chance of changeable or more unsettled conditions developing, which would mean spells of rain and the potential for strong winds at times. The extent and location of the wettest and/or windiest areas are very uncertain at this range, with the wettest and windiest weather probably towards the north and west, but there are hints that overall the south may be wetter than normal whilst the northwest is a little drier than normal, suggesting the possibility that areas of low pressure may be steered further south than normal. Overall, temperatures will probably be near or a little above normal, although brief colder interludes are also possible with some overnight frost.
