Tonight:

The strong winds and showers will ease to bring a settled night with plenty of clear spells, although the odd light showers may linger. Winds becoming light and feeling chilly. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Sunday:

A chilly start tomorrow, with a light breeze. Dry with sunny spells during the morning, but the afternoon sun will be dimmed by thickening cloud. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Monday will be widely overcast with spots of drizzle through the day. Becoming much brighter on Tuesday after a morning of rain and strong winds. Bright and breezy on Wednesday.

The weather is expected to remain changeable. Low pressure systems will continue to run across the North Atlantic, often to the north and northwest of the UK, bringing occasional bands of rain and strong winds, interspersed with brighter and more showery conditions. Rain will be most prevalent across hills in the west and northwest, where above average rainfall is likely through this period. Longer drier interludes are more favoured in southern and eastern parts, but even here there will probably be more rain over the period compared to recent weeks. Whilst brief cooler interludes and early morning frosts are possible, temperatures are likely to be a little above normal in many areas for the period as a whole, and potentially quite mild at times during wetter and windier spells.

The remainder of October and into early November will probably maintain a changeable pattern overall, with areas of low pressure often passing close to if not across the UK from the North Atlantic, interspersed by occasional ridges of high pressure. As such, showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, with the wettest and windiest weather typically in the west and northwest, driest conditions more favoured in sheltered southern and eastern parts, and perhaps more widely initially. A trend to more widely unsettled conditions is possible into November. Whilst some occasional colder interludes will be possible at times, temperatures are likely to be near or a little above average for the period as a whole.
