Headline:

Mostly cloudy with showery rain

Today:

Patchy fog around initially will gradually clear, but remaining generally dull with low cloud and outbreaks of showery rain arriving during the morning. Perhaps some brighter spells developing from the south later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Some clear spells to start the evening but becoming generally more cloudy as the night develops, with some low cloud and outbreaks of drizzle arriving towards dawn. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday:

Cloudy initially with patches of mist and fog and outbreaks of drizzle. Becoming brighter through the morning with some good sunny spells developing during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A changeable period with variable cloud and outbreaks of rain or showers interspersed with some clearer or brighter interludes. Chilly at times overnight with a few mist and fog patches.

The start of this period is likely to be largely unsettled and mostly mild, with bands or areas of rain moving across most parts of the UK, although tending to be focused more on western and possibly southern parts. Locally strong winds may also accompany the rain at times. Some drier spells are also likely, the best of these probably towards the east and possibly the north. Where skies are clear and winds light overnight, frost and fog are likely, the fog slow to clear. From around the middle of the month, we may see a transition towards more generally drier weather across the UK, and with this it is likely to turn a little cooler overall, with a greater risk of overnight frost.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are highly uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
