Heavy rain will spread east this evening, with strong winds. Dry and clearer conditions follow from the west through the early hours. Winds gradually easing toward dawn with a chance of patches of fog forming. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Sunday:

Dry and largely sunny start, then cloud will build bringing the chance of a few mainly light showers. Most places will remain dry with some sunny spells and light winds. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Monday and Tuesday dry and bright, and some hazy sunny spells. Wednesday cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain, but also some drier spells. Temperatures close to average.

A broadly northwest-southeast split in conditions to start, with spells of rain and strong winds affecting northwestern areas and predominantly dry weather towards the southeast. As Hurricane Humberto moves into the North Atlantic and loses its tropical characteristics, this will likely have an influence on the UK's weather, with the potential for wet and very windy conditions around the first weekend of October. Beyond here, confidence in the details remains low, owing to the potential for further Atlantic tropical cyclone activity, but further spells of wet and windy weather are possible, more likely across northern areas, with lengthier drier spells in the south. Temperatures probably generally near to a little above average by day, though the possibility of chilly nights and overnight fog later on in the south.

A continuation of the broad patterns from the end of the 6-15 day forecast is anticipated at first, with the more unsettled conditions focussed towards northern areas and the best of the drier interludes further south. From around mid October, there is a signal for more widely unsettled weather to develop, with more frequent bouts of wet and windy weather affecting a greater portion of the UK. Given the likelihood of westerly winds predominating, temperatures should average out a little above the seasonal norm, with overnight temperatures more often relatively mild, and with a reduced incidence of overnight fog, compared to normal.
