Scattered showers along the coast initially, gradually extending across many other eastern areas this morning and afternoon, then mostly dying away later. Further west staying dry, with cloud increasing after a sunny start. Temperatures near normal. Breezy along the coast. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry at first with long clear periods. Later in the night scattered showers arrive along the coast, perhaps pushing showers a little way inland. Remaining breezy along the coast. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Sunday:

Largely dry initially with sunny spells, but scattered coastal showers. Through the day showers extend further west and cloudier conditions develop, although Derbyshire likely remains dry. Coastal areas become windy. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Often cloudy with a chance of patchy rain Monday and Tuesday, but also some drier periods. Potentially spells of heavy rain for Wednesday. Temperatures will be generally near normal.

A changeable if not unsettled spell of weather will affect the UK through most if not all this period, with spells of wet and windy weather arriving from the Atlantic followed by drier though still showery interludes. It is possible that stormy weather may also develop at times. However, there is a chance that higher pressure may build near the UK again around the end of October, bringing a quieter spell of weather for a time. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall, with mild spells likely at times, especially towards the south. In between frontal systems, and if pressure does build at the end of the period, colder nights are possible, with a touch of frost.

This period is highly uncertain, more so than normal, but overall it seems more likely than not that the UK weather will be dominated by westerly or southwesterly winds from the Atlantic during this period, with areas of potentially deep low pressure often affecting the UK at times. This will result in spells of wet and windy weather followed by drier but still showery interludes. Stormy conditions are also possible at times. High pressure may attempt to build across the country at times, this perhaps more likely early in the period, but any settled spells are likely to be short-lived. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above average overall.
