A cloudy start with some light showers. Cloud breaking to give some bright or sunny spells into the afternoon but with further showers, locally heavy and could be thundery in the south. Feeling warm in sunshine and light winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Showers will slowly ease into the evening, with breaks in the cloud developing overnight which could see some fog patches developing. Winds remain light. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday:

Saturday, bright start but showers developing later some of these could be heavy at times. The wind becomes northeasterly and breezy overnight. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A band of rain clearing south early on Sunday, with brighter skies following. Further showers Monday. Often breezy and feeling cooler. Tuesday cloudy and dry with isolated light showers.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
