This Evening and Tonight:

Cloudy this evening, chance of a few breaks developing. Becoming overcast overnight but staying largely dry. A chance of some light rain or drizzle over the Peak District. Winds will freshen and become gusty by the morning. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday:

Overcast with hill fog for much of the day. Outbreaks of rain arriving from the northwest through the afternoon, heavy rain spreading to all parts later. Winds strengthening. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday windy with sunshine and scattered heavy showers, feeling much colder. Thursday turns more settled and drier with easing winds. Friday starts off dry before cloud and rain arrive later.

A broadly changeable pattern will continue, at least through the first part of this period, as further frontal systems move across the UK, bringing rain and stronger winds at times. Weather fronts are likely to be more active across northern areas, thus the wettest and windiest conditions are more likely here. As they come south, often running in to a ridge of higher pressure extending from the southwest, frontal systems will often be weaker and rainfall amounts smaller. In this setup, temperatures will probably pan out close to average overall, with some overnight frost where skies are clear and winds light.

High pressure may be more dominant at the start of this period, the centre of which transferring from somewhere west or southwest of the UK to somewhere north of the UK. As such, plenty of dry weather seems most likely, but with changes in wind direction leading to some quite marked differences in cloud amounts and temperature from day to day. Moving further into April, there is a chance that high pressure will become less dominant and thus there is a greater chance of more places seeing some rain and possible stronger winds from time to time. Overall, temperatures panning out somewhere near to average.
