Mostly cloudy evening with showers and chance of longer spells of rain, some heavy, before clearing overnight with some uncertainty in timing. Turning colder once it clears. Windy, especially near coasts, with risk of gales. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Sunday:

A cloudy start with sunny spells soon developing, isolated coastal showers are possible. Breezy along the coast. Feeling notably colder than of late. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A spell of settled weather develops, feeling colder than of late. Some mist, fog, and rural grass frost may develop in prone spots, soon clearing to sunshine most days.

Continuation of the settled weather of the previous few days will begin this period. Dry for the vast majority, with light winds and sunny spells by day; overnight there will be a risk of mist or isolated fog patches. Thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain may already be affecting the extreme northwest however, and through the coming weekend there will be a steadily increasing chance of this moving eastwards across more of the UK; eastern areas always likely to fare best. Confidence in any breakdown to unsettled weather however is very low, influenced by ex-Hurricane Gabrielle, which may approach the UK during this time. The following week will most likely see a west to east split, with wettest weather remaining in western areas. Temperatures around to above average.

Confidence is very low in the weather regimes most likely to affect the UK during this period. On balance, slow-moving weather patterns are most favoured at first, possibly with high pressure centred to the west of the UK, and low pressure to the northeast, allowing a slightly cooler and more changeable flavour to the weather to develop. Towards mid-October a more unsettled pattern may become established as areas of low pressure over the North Atlantic move close to or over the UK, with an increased chance of windy conditions at times. Temperatures will probably recover to near-average.
