Cloudy across the region tonight, with further outbreaks of light and patchy rain, particularly across the hills. A few clear spells developing too with some mist and fog patches possible. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Sunday:

Remaining cloudy on Sunday with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle where the cloud thickens. Some brighter spells possible too. Near normal temperatures. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Cloudy for most, staying largely dry with occasional showers. Mild in sunny breaks. Turning wetter and windier from the west on Wednesday, with sunny spells and showers.

UK long range weather forecast

This period will continue to see the UK located at the interface between high pressure across Europe and low pressure over the North Atlantic. As such, north western areas will likely see the focus of spells of rain at times, along with stronger winds, whereas south eastern parts should see more in the way of drier interludes, though even here, some rain is expected from time to time. Temperatures should overall be a little above average for most areas, though there are likely to be times when it will be cooler too, bringing a risk of overnight frosts.

The start of this period could see unsettled conditions fairly widely across the UK, with spells of rain and strong winds affecting many areas at times, although western areas likely remain wettest. Then, whilst confidence in the details is low, there is the potential for weather patterns to become slower-moving by late March, bringing more settled and drier conditions . Overall, temperatures will probably end up near to average, though there are indications of a cooler spell near the turn of the month.
