Mild and unsettled with spells of rain this week

Today:

Widely cloudy with rain moving in quickly from the southwest through the morning. This turning persistent and heavy at times through the afternoon. Rather windy too, with coastal gales possible in the west. Still feeling mild. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining wet with further spells of heavy rain this evening, however drier interludes will become more prolonged by the early hours of Wednesday morning. Mild and still rather cloudy. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Wednesday:

A mainly cloudy day, with some bright spells through the morning, however rain will edge into southern parts by the afternoon. Lighter winds than recent days, but still mild. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Remaining unsettled with further periods of rain, these heavy and persistent for some, interspersed with drier, clearer intervals. Staying breezy, and feeling colder with temperatures returning to average by Friday.

Many central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frosts, and a few showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground. However, it could remain cloudier, milder and wetter initially across some southern and southwestern areas, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
