Tonight:

A dry and bright, though largely cloudy evening. Cloud will continue to thicken overnight, with a few outbreaks of rain developing towards dawn. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Monday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain spreading northwards, some of which will likely be heavy at times. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Unsettled on Tuesday and Wednesday with showers or longer spells of rain, often heavy at times. Brighter on Thursday with a few scattered showers.

Probably rather changeable to begin this period, with some rain or showers at times, but also the likelihood of some decent drier interludes too. Towards mid August, high pressure may become rather more dominant towards the north of the UK, with lower pressure further to the south. This means there is a greater chance for Atlantic frontal systems or thundery interludes to affect southern areas, certainly in comparison to recent weeks, though rainfall amounts could be quite variable with some areas seeing relatively little. For the most part, temperatures look to remain above average, especially in the south, though perhaps without the exceptional heat we have seen in recent weeks.

It will probably be changeable to start the period, with spells of unsettled weather interspersed with some drier interludes. Later into August it will most likely turn predominantly dry and settled, as high pressure patterns seem likely to influence the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or by thunderstorms in the south. Nonetheless, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
