Rather cloudy at first, with patchy light rain spreading southeast during the morning. Then turning drier and brighter into the afternoon with just the odd light shower. Fresh winds easing. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

A mainly dry and bright evening with some sunny spells. Cloud and outbreaks of rain then spread in from the west during the early hours. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Sunday:

Mainly cloudy with rain in the morning. Turning more showery in the afternoon, some of showers likely on the heavier side across Lothian and the Borders. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

An changeable, often cloudy period with the risk of rain or showers. Rain possibly heavy at times, but becoming generally drier and brighter later Wednesday.

Dry at first across the south with sunny periods, where it will also be very warm. Cloudier in the north with showers or some longer outbreaks of rain, which could be heavy in places, and temperatures nearer normal. It will probably become more changeable thereafter, with potential for an area of low pressure to move close to or across the UK at the start of August. This could bring spells of heavy rain and perhaps some strong winds for a time. It may become more settled again toward the end of the first week of August.

Dry and settled conditions will probably dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
