Mainly dry on Friday although a few showers likely.

Today:

A fairly bright day with some sunny intervals. A few showers, especially near the east coast at first this morning. Winds will be mostly light. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Still the odd shower this evening then becoming dry with some good clear spells developing tonight. Quite cold with perhaps a touch of frost in sheltered spots. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Saturday:

A mainly dry day with some bright or sunny intervals the best of these around the coasts. One or two scattered showers are possible. A colder day. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry with sunny spells much of Sunday then light rain spreading from northwest. Monday dry and bright then some patchy evening rain. Sunny spells and a few showers on Tuesday.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
