Showers returning through the night, which could turn heavy at times during the early morning especially. Winds increasing around coastal areas, but a slight frost developing in sheltered inland spots. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Another day of sunshine and blustery showers, some of the showers again could be heavy with the added risk of hail in places. Remaining chilly, with temperatures below average. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Staying mixed to end the week with further sunshine and showers likely. Drier, with lighter winds to start the weekend though. Temperatures staying below average for the time of year.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. Initially temperatures likely cooler than average, but tending to recover, perhaps becoming rather warm by the end of the period as it tends to become more settled, especially in the south.
