Unsettled start to the week, but turning warmer from mid-week.

Today:

A rather wet start this morning with a band of rain breaking up into showers before easing throughout the afternoon. Some of the showers will be heavy, but some sunnier interludes developing in between. Temperatures still a little below average. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Some late spells of sunshine around this evening, before a band of rain and blustery winds spread in overnight. A milder night than of late. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday:

Overnight rain clearing to a mix of sunny spells and blustery showers on Tuesday. Some of the showers potentially heavy with a risk of thunder. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Lighter winds on Wednesday but still with plenty of showers. Turning drier and brighter from Thursday, with sunny spells for many. Feeling much warmer by Friday with temperatures above average.

High pressure is expected to bring a good deal of fair, warm weather to the UK during the Bank Holiday weekend. It may be cloudier with a chance of some showers across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but even here it will be much warmer than the previous week and there will be plenty of dry weather around too. Through the following week, high pressure is expected to broadly remain in place for much of the UK, and fine weather is likely to continue for most of the country. There may be occasions where low pressure to the north may bring some brief spells of rain across northern parts, but in general fair weather will dominate. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, feeling very warm at times with light winds.

Fair weather is more likely to dominate, at least at first. Rain and showers are possible at times, mainly across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but the main emphasis remains for fine and dry weather for most places. As we head towards mid-June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers. Drier weather is expected between any bouts of wetter weather, these drier interludes will tend to last longer across the south and east of England. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm or very warm weather possible.
