Partly cloudy to start with the odd spot of rain mostly over the hills. Cloud builds through the day with rain developing from the northwest through the afternoon. Breezy with temperatures just above average. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Rain across western and northern parts initially, moving southeast and turning locally heavy through the night, easing towards dawn with clear spells devlopong. Winds easing. A mild night for most. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday:

A dry start with variable cloud, a fine day follows with good sunny spells and light winds. Temperatures near average but feeling warm in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Turning cloudier and breezy on Sunday but dry. Similar for most on Monday but with patchy light rain over the Pennines. Cloudy with rain on Tuesday. Temperatures just above average.

Cloudy with some rain in the far southeast and heavy showers in the far north, but otherwise a good deal of fine and dry weather at the start of this period. This will quickly change as weather systems move in from the Atlantic at the end of next week and over the following weekend. These will bring spells of rain or showers to most areas, heavy at times (especially in the northwest) with some strong winds. Into the middle of the month, similarly changeable conditions are most likely, with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems interspersed with some drier, brighter spells. Temperatures will likely be near to or slightly below normal at first, maybe becoming warmer later.

The second half of October will probably maintain a changeable pattern overall with weather systems often moving in from the Atlantic. These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, with the wettest and windiest weather in the northwest, drier in the southeast. There is a chance that a period of more widely dry conditions could develop for a time, but confidence in the details of this is low. Temperatures will probably be above average overall.
