A mostly dry, bright and very warm day across the south of region. Further north, turning increasingly cloudy with some rain in Cumbria and perhaps parts of Lancashire. This can be heavy at times and can move southwards. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

Rain eases and becomes more confined to hill of Cumbria. Staying cloud across the north with clearer spells in the south. A mild night to come for most places. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Friday:

Another dry start to the day with bright spells in the south and more in the way of cloud in the north. Turning wetter here into the late afternoon. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Turning more settled into the weekend as high pressure starts to build from the south. Sunny spells and feeling very warm with temperatures well above the June average.

Probably a north-south split at the start of this period. Many areas in the south will be mainly fine and dry with temperatures well above normal, albeit with a small risk of a few showers or thunderstorms at times. In the north, changeable with some showers or spells of rain, perhaps heavy at times, and temperatures near normal, although with drier, brighter periods also. Into late June, high pressure may begin to build with conditions becoming more widely dry and settled. Temperatures are likely to be above normal for many areas.

High pressure patterns are slightly more likely than low pressure patterns during this period, meaning settled and drier than average conditions are most probable. However, there is still a chance of some changeable, more unsettled conditions could develop at times, and a risk of some heavy and thundery showers. Temperatures are likely to be above normal, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing.
