Early cloud will break with some brighter or sunny spells developing, but also scattered showers. These turning heavy in places, with thunder and hail possible. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Fine and breezy Wednesday, before rain spreads east later. Breezy Thursday with sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy and thundery. Perhaps drier Friday, but with further showers likely. Staying cool.

These will bring showers or longer spells of rain at times, with wettest conditions in the northwest, driest in the southeast. Strong winds may affect parts of the UK at times, especially the northwest. Later in the period, higher pressure and drier weather may begin to become more prevalent, especially in the south. Temperatures are likely to be near normal overall.

Later, low pressure will probably begin to have more of an influence, especially across the south where heavy showers and thunderstorms become more probable. It may also become hot in parts of the south.
