Today:

A day of bright or sunny spells and a scattering of showers across the region. The showers mainly light but a few heavier showers possible. Feeling a little warmer than of late. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Showers fading this evening across the south, but a few continuing overnight in the north. Clear spells developing away from the showers, allowing it to turn chilly in the countryside. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

A dry and bright start in the south, but showery rain will spread across the region throughout the day. The odd heavier shower possible, but feeling warm in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Drier but cooler on Sunday, with a cold night following. Staying cool early next week, with some further spells of rain but also some sunshine at times.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
