Today:

Bright spells and showers, the best of the sunny spells for East Lothian and the eastern Borders during the morning. The showers could be heavy, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Largely cloudy this evening with showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. Most showers dying out through the night, but a few still likely lingering into the early hours. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Monday:

A mainly dry and partly cloudy morning. Sunny intervals and showers for the afternoon, the best of the sunniest conditions on western coasts. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Rain or showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, occasionally heavy at first. Drier on Thursday. Milder than of late.

Continuing to be changeable at first for the north west, with low pressure often close by to the north of the UK, bringing rain and showers. Across the south, high pressure is expected to quickly start to build near to the UK towards the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing some fine and dry conditions, with temperatures rising accordingly for some. Thereafter, high pressure is expected to broadly remain the dominant influence across much of the UK, with spells of fine weather. Low pressure will be positioned to the north, and will at times allow some rain or showers, this mostly to the north. Overall across the period, temperatures are expected to be above normal with winds often light for many.

Whilst further rain and showers are possible at times, this mainly across the north, there is also likely to be spells of fine and dry weather for many areas. Patterns which bring more settled weather are more likely to dominate through the turn of the month across southern areas with more unsettled spells of weather likely to be focused further north. Further towards mid-June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm weather possible at times.
