    Widely dry Christmas Day, but often cloudy and feeling cold.

    Today:

    Largely cloudy today however a few short-lived brighter intervals are possible at times. Although widely dry, isolated showers are possible, perhaps briefly wintry on higher parts of the Pennines this morning. Feeling cold again in fairly brisk north-easterly winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

    Tonight:

    Dry and mostly cloudy this evening, the cloud tending to thin and break up overnight, leaving clearer skies by the morning. Winds easing and perhaps a local inland frost developing. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

    Friday:

    Dry, mostly sunny on Boxing Day, just some occasional fair weather cloud affecting the Pennines. Generally lighter winds than on Christmas Day, but occasionally gusty winds likely near western hills. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Cloudy and mainly dry through the outlook period. Still rather cold overall and also breezy at first, although winds largely easing by Sunday.
