Clear periods and the odd shower this evening. Then the rest of the night be mainly dry with variable amounts of cloud, the odd shower across the south. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Sunday:

After a dry start widespread rain, occasionally heavy, will spread northeast during the morning. Drier and clearer weather will spread from the west by evening. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Dry with some sunshine on Monday. Windy and mainly dry on Tuesday, but patchy rain likely in the afternoon. Bright with a few showers on Wednesday.

Higher pressure and more settled conditions look likely to build across across the UK, however it remains finely balanced whether this will become focused across the north or south. Lower pressure and interludes of more changeable weather are likely at times, but again, there are mixed signals regarding where this is more likely. However, an overall drier period than average is expected, with shorter periods of rain or showers. Winds are also likely to be lighter than average overall, but shorter periods of strong winds remain likely at this time of year, particularly across the northwest. Temperatures are likely to remain warmer than average.

Initially, high pressure may be centred to the north or northeast, with longer drier periods more likely across northern UK, whilst low pressure to the southwest brings occasional rain or showers into more southern and western parts. Towards and beyond mid-October, it may turn more widely unsettled with a greater chance of wet and windy conditions at times. Temperatures will likely be above average for the period as a whole.
