Dry this evening with some late sunshine, though cloudier along Caithness coast. Then the rest of the night will be dry, clear periods, but some low cloud developing near the Moray Firth and around the Minches. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday:

Dry with long spells of sunshine for most, but patchy low cloud may linger along North Sea coasts and coastal parts of the northwest. Very warm or hot inland. Maximum temperature 28 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cloudy start Friday otherwise dry and sunny, far north remaining cloudy. Cloudy start on Saturday, chance of a light shower, then sunny. Sunday starting sunny then clouding over. Cooler.

Remaining predominantly dry for most parts of the country as high pressure is likely to remain close to the UK for much of this period. However, with the source region of the air being from the North Atlantic, it will be less hot compared to many recent days. Any showers during the start of the period are more likely across the far north. Towards the latter part of July, the influence of high pressure may wane somewhat, allowing a greater chance of rain, showers or thunderstorms compared to earlier in the month, these initially more likely across the north before possibly transferring south. Overall, temperatures are expected to remain above average during this period.

Perhaps a somewhat more changeable period, with the potential for showers or thunderstorms or even some longer spells of rain at times. Drier and brighter interludes are also likely, perhaps more likely across the south and southeast. Temperatures are likely to be above normal with some hot spells possible.
