Headline:

Sunny spells and afternoon showers.

Today:

A mainly dry, bright morning with some sunshine. Cloud will tend to bubble up through the day to give a few heavy afternoon showers between sunnier intervals, perhaps with the odd rumble of thunder. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Showers will gradually die out this evening. Turning cloudier through the early hours, with rain spreading in from the west towards the end of the night. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tuesday:

Rather cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain, some of which may be on the heavy side. Some drier, brighter periods around the Inverness area in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Variable cloud with showers or a few spells of rain, some of which may be on the heavy side. Often rather warm in any sunny spells around the Moray Firth.

High pressure is expected to bring a good deal of fair, warm weather to the UK during the Bank Holiday weekend. It may be cloudier with a chance of some showers across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but even here it will be much warmer than the previous week and there will be plenty of dry weather around too. Through the following week, high pressure is expected to broadly remain in place for much of the UK, and fine weather is likely to continue for most of the country. There may be occasions where low pressure to the north may bring some brief spells of rain across northern parts, but in general fair weather will dominate. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, feeling very warm at times with light winds.

Fair weather is more likely to dominate, at least at first. Rain and showers are possible at times, mainly across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but the main emphasis remains for fine and dry weather for most places. As we head towards mid-June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers. Drier weather is expected between any bouts of wetter weather, these drier interludes will tend to last longer across the south and east of England. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm or very warm weather possible.
