Headline:

Many staying dry, but rain reaching south during the afternoon.

Today:

A largely dry and occasionally bright morning. Cloud gradually thickening from the south for the afternoon, bringing some rain to the south of the Great Glen by late afternoon. Light winds. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Overcast with periods of rain that turn heavy at times, most persistently across western districts. Winds increasing strong across the coasts and Isles. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Dull for much of the day with periods of rain, turning heavy at times. Rain gradually clearing to showers late in the day, brought on strengthening northeastly winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday, Friday seeing significantly lower afternoon highs, but the northeasterly winds and showers, these wintry to quite low levels, gradually decreasing. Saturday largely dry with bright spells and light winds.

Many central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frosts, and a few showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground. However, it could remain cloudier, milder and wetter initially across some southern and southwestern areas, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
