Variable cloud and some sunny then clear spells for the Western Isles. Otherwise cloudy with outbreaks of rain, these heavy and thundery at times. Rain largely clearing east by morning. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday:

Any overnight rain soon clearing east. Otherwise cooler and mainly cloudy with some patchy light drizzle possible, but west coast brightening up with some warm sunshine breaking out. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A dry few days with some sunshine at times, especially Monday. Very warm in the west with the best of the sunshine, cloudier at times in the east.

High pressure initially situated to the north of the UK with low pressure over the Bay of Biscay starts the period with broadly settled weather for much of the UK. There will, however, be a risk of thunderstorms spreading into the south of the UK from France at times. Through the weekend potentially turning more unsettled with some rain or showers and thunderstorms at times as low pressure and a more northerly wind affect the UK at times. Temperatures will be warm or very warm for most, perhaps hot at times in the southwest initially, likely easing to warm or near average into the weekend, though further hot spells possible between systems.

The signal through the end of July and into August becomes increasingly mixed with spells of low pressure and more unsettled weather becoming more likely. There may still be some thunderstorms at times as well. There will still probably be some dry interludes, most probably in the south and southeast. Temperatures are likely to remain warm or very warm and some spells of hot weather remain possible.
