Some morning sunshine in east, otherwise rather cloudy with showers

Today:

Angus, Fife and eastern Stirlingshire bright with sunny spells and just a few showers this morning. However, cloudier conditions with more frequent showers across western Stirlingshire and Perthshire cloudier spread east through the afternoon. Mainly light winds. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud and showers soon clear this evening to leave a dry night with long clear spells developing. With light winds a widespread frost is expected, and a few fog patches. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Thursday:

A chilly start with some long spells of morning sunshine. Cloud increases from late morning and southeasterly winds strengthen, brining outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain northeast from mid-afternoon. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining unsettled, and breezy at times, with showers or longer spells of occasionally heavy rain, best chance of drier conditions with some sunshine on Sunday.

The changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue through early November, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely at times, with gales or severe gales a possibility, especially in the west. Equally there should also be some, at least brief, drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east, but perhaps becoming a little more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period. With winds predominantly blowing from a westerly or southwesterly quadrant, above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first.

A gradual transition from an unsettled westerly type to something less unsettled is anticipated through the middle part of the month. With time, greater incidences of high pressure look set to affect the UK, bringing more in the way of dry weather, but also increasing the chances of overnight fog and frost. Later in the month any low pressure systems will likely be steered to the northwest of the UK. As such the majority of any wet and windy weather is more likely to affect areas further to the north. Overall, temperatures look to pan out near to a little above average.
