Chance of some rain along the east coast at first, otherwise mainly dry. Rain, sleet and hill snow will spread southeast later in the afternoon and evening. Cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Early wintry showers on Tuesday otherwise dry and bright. Dry and cold on Wednesday and Thursday with overnight frost, locally severe across the west.

Some heavy rain is likely in places, with some snow probable at times, mainly on high ground in the north. Temperatures varying from around or a little above average, especially in the south, to cold at times, especially in the north. While unsettled weather is likely to dominate, there will be some drier interludes between weather systems. Later in the period, there is a chance that more prolonged drier and settled conditions may begin to develop.
