Any overnight rain soon clearing the east. Then it will be mainly dry with some bright or sunny spells, but cloudier across the south. A few showers possible, mainly this afternoon. Cold. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy this evening with some showery rain and hill snow. Mainly dry in the early hours although some rain possible towards the east coast. Patchy frost and ice. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Monday:

Chance of some rain along the east coast at first, otherwise mainly dry. Rain, sleet and hill snow will spread southeast later in the afternoon and evening. Cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Early wintry showers on Tuesday otherwise dry and bright. Dry and cold on Wednesday and Thursday with overnight frost, locally severe across the west.

Some heavy rain is likely in places, with some snow probable at times, mainly on high ground in the north. Temperatures varying from around, or a little above, average especially in the south to cold at times, mainly in the north. Although unsettled weather is likely to dominate at first, there will be some drier interludes between weather systems. These drier interludes will become increasingly likely and perhaps more prolonged through the period.
