Today:

A dry morning with sunny spells. Becoming cloudier in the afternoon with a few light showers, these mainly in the west and north. Drier and brighter again in the evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

Any showers will clear to leave a dry evening for most. Then the rest of the night will be dry across all parts with clear periods. Becoming rather chilly. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Sunday:

The risk of a few light showers across northern Aberdeenshire at first. Otherwise a dry day with sunny intervals turning hazier later in the day. Light winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Becoming widely unsettled from Monday, with rain spreading northwards, at times heavy and persistent. Further spells of rain or showers are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A generally changeable period looks likely and many places are likely to see some rain or showers at times, interspersed with drier and sunnier spells. Many areas will start with a few drier days, although there will be some showers in the north. There is, however, a chance that deeper low pressure brings more widespread unsettled conditions for a time. Into mid August more changeable or unsettled conditions probably become prevalent. This may be due to Atlantic frontal systems or thundery plumes moving north from the continent or a combination of both. Temperatures will likely be a little above average, and there is the potential for some very warm or hot and humid spells, especially in the south, although perhaps not the heat we have seen in recent weeks.

Predominantly dry and settled conditions look likely for much of this period, with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall, rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
