Today:

A generally dry and in the south locally warm day, with sunny spells building into the afternoon. However some early showers across the cloudier north. Winds northerly relatively light. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Staying dry with late sunshine then clear spells always more prolonged towards the southern end of the Great Glen. North to northeast winds occasionally fresh across the Hebrides. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Monday:

Another generally fair days weather in prospect with most dry with periods of sunshine widespread through the morning, before turning hazy from the west during the afternoon. Winds light. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

A change to more unsettled conditions with a series of rain bands crossing from the west. However, with winds staying southwesterly temperatures a little up on the seasonal averages.

The first few days of this period are likely to see something of a northwest-southeast split in the weather across the UK. Areas towards the north and west are most likely to often be cloudier, with spells of rain, some of which could be heavy and accompanied by breezy conditions. Further southeast, a greater chance of drier conditions, although given the potential for high temperatures and high humidity, there is the possibility of some thunderstorms breaking out as well. Towards late June, there is a signal for more widely settled conditions to develop with high pressure more likely to dominate, with temperatures probably remaining above average for most.

High pressure is expected to lie close to the UK at the start of this period, bringing largely settled and dry conditions. Temperatures will likely be above normal, with the potential for hot conditions to develop, especially in the south. Further into July, the influence of high pressure may weaken or shift more to the north or west of the UK, bringing an increasing chance of more unsettled weather and thunderstorms, especially in the south. Temperatures will probably ease back closer to normal too, although some warm and humid spells remain possible at times.
