    Dry for most overnight with a mixture of clear spells and variable cloud. Turning chilly underneath the lengthiest clear skies with a widespread frost and some freezing fog patches. A few showers possible in the far west, where breezy. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

    Wednesday:

    A frosty start to New Year's Eve with fog locally lingering until late morning. Elsewhere, plenty of winter sunshine. Staying dry into the evening with light winds but feeling chilly. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Rather cloudy on New Year's Day with showery rain. Periods of sunshine into the weekend, though wintry showers possible at times with a brisk wind. Frost and ice overnight.
