Clear spells and lingering showers initially. Then cloud spreading across the country overnight with some patchy rain, easing towards dawn. Still blustery, particularly along coasts. Rather chilly. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Thursday:

Fine and largely dry with plenty of sunny spells in between scattered fair-weather cloud. Isolated, mostly light, showers in the west. Feeling pleasant in the sunshine despite the slight breeze. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Fog patches initially on Friday, then a fine day with sunny spells followed by another frosty night. Some sunshine on Saturday but cloudier by Sunday with some patchy rain possible.

Temperatures generally around average, notwithstanding some chilly nights, though with milder interludes likely.

The weather across the UK is likely to be dominated by winds from the west or southwest, at least at first, bringing spells of wet and windy weather as Atlantic weather systems move across the country. Northwestern parts of the UK are likely to see the wettest conditions overall, while through mid-March, southern parts of the UK have the greatest chance of high pressure bringing more settled spells. Later in the period, there is a chance that settled weather may develop more widely, but this is low confidence and changeable conditions remain most probable overall. Temperatures typically around or above average, though some short-lived colder spells remain possible.
