A chilly and sunny start with cloud building throughout the day but remaining largely dry until rain arrives across west Wales from mid-afternoon. Feeling less chilly thanks to lighter winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Turning increasingly cloudy with thicker cloud continuing to push eastwards, outbreaks of rain becoming more widespread towards midnight with some heavy bursts over the high ground. A strengthening gusty wind. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Friday:

A damp and overcast start to begin Friday with rain gradually clearing to the south and east. Turning somewhat drier and brighter by late afternoon with some brighter spells possible. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Brighter on Saturday with sunny spells and scattered blustery showers developing. Another spell of rain will arrive during Sunday, this clearing to bright spells and blustery showers Monday. Windy.

High pressure to the southwest of the UK will likely be the dominant feature for this period. This will lead to a fairly blocked pattern, with weather fronts rounding the high to affect northern parts at times, where wet and windy weather can be expected. Further south, drier and more settled conditions are more likely, as frontal systems weaken as they meet the high pressure. Through the period, high pressure is likely to spread across much of the UK leading to settled conditions developing more widely. Whilst temperatures will be generally near to or a little above average, some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north, where there could be some wintry showers at times.

High pressure will likely be dominant at the start of this period. As such, plenty of dry weather seems most likely, but with changes in wind direction leading to some quite marked differences in cloud amounts and temperature from day to day. Moving further into April, there is a chance that high pressure will become less dominant and thus there is a greater chance of more places seeing some rain and possible stronger winds from time to time. Overall, temperatures will likely be near to average.
