Staying cloudy this evening with further spots of rain and drizzle. Turning drier overnight with some clearer breaks by dawn. Slight breeze picking up. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday:

Drier and brighter on Tuesday with sunny spells. Turning windier through the day, especially along the coast and hills. Temperatures close to average. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cloudy and windy with outbreaks of rain through the period. Colder briefly on Thursday with the risk of snow over the Pennines, before turning back to rain on Friday.

The UK will likely continue to sit in the battleground between Atlantic weather systems attempting to push in from the west, but tending to stall in the vicinity over the UK as they encounter high pressure to the north and northeast. As such, further spells of rain or showers are likely at times, which may be heavy and persistent, especially in the south and west, with the best of any drier interludes in the far north and northwest. Whilst mild conditions will encroach into the south and west at times, it is likely to turn somewhat colder through this period, bringing the risk of some snow, more especially on hills in Scotland and northern England.

Initially, slowly evolving weather patterns are most likely in the vicinity of the UK, with low pressure typically to the west or southwest and high pressure to the northeast. This configuration brings an increased chance of cold conditions affecting the UK, and the associated risk of wintry hazards at times. Deeper into February, whilst confidence is naturally low, there may be a transition to more widely unsettled conditions and a corresponding recovery in temperature back closer to average.
