Cloud is likely to thicken from the west overnight, however occasional clear spells will also allow for some mist or fog patches to develop by dawn. Mild with light winds. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Thursday:

Brighter spells likely through the morning, with the best of any warm sunshine east. Cloud then thickens further by the afternoon, with outbreaks of rain later. Cooler than on Wednesday. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Chilly start Friday then sunny intervals. Variable cloud Saturday, perhaps some showers, but also brighter intervals. Sunshine and showers Sunday. Temperatures near normal for April.

It will likely remain rather changeable during the first part of this period with showers or occasional longer spells of rain affecting many areas. Whether this takes the form of successive weather systems pushing in from the Atlantic or a more slowly evolving weather pattern remains rather unclear. There may also be some drier and brighter interludes and when winds are light, it should feel quite warm, despite temperatures most likely being close to normal for most. Later in the month more blocked weather patterns become more likely, with high pressure in the vicinity of the UK. This increases the probability of more settled weather, especially in the north but there may still be periods of rain or showers, especially in the south.

Blocked patterns with high pressure near to the UK will probably be dominant during this period with a good deal of dry weather across the UK as whole. Some unsettled interludes could develop at times, especially in the south, where rainfall amounts could be above average. Temperatures will probably be near to or slightly above normal, although some cold nights are still possible.
