Dry today, sunny in the southwest. Cloudy start in east.

Today:

A cloudy start across Lothian and Borders with a little drizzle. Brightening up by afternoon with some spells of sunshine, but some cloud lingering along the east coast. Dumfries and Galloway dry, sunny and quite warm. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

This evening will be dry. Remaining dry overnight but clouding over across Lothians and Borders. Dumfries and Galloway will be clear with some patchy frost. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Thursday:

Overnight low cloud mostly burning off in the east, but may linger along parts of the east coast. Otherwise dry and sunny. Becoming warm, but cooler along the east coast. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining dry and settled into the weekend with plenty of sunshine. Low cloud may be slow to clear eastern coastal districts. Warm inland, but cooler near the east coast.

High pressure is likely to be centred close to or over the UK through much of the period. Therefore, many places will be largely dry with some clear or sunny spells, although there may be some overnight mist and fog patches. There could, however, be some outbreaks of rain or showers at times, especially in the west and northwest. Winds will be mostly light, but may be fresher around the coasts at times. Temperatures will generally be near to or a little above normal, but there may be some colder conditions at first in the far northeast. Towards the end of the period there is a chance that conditions turn a little more unsettled.

Residual high pressure will likely give way to more unsettled conditions through the early part of the period. This will probably allow Atlantic low pressure systems to spread towards the UK, increasing the chance of periods of heavy rain and perhaps strong winds at times. Towards the middle of the month, weather patterns become increasingly uncertain; however, the wettest and windiest conditions seem most likely to be in the northwest, with the drier and more settled conditions in the southeast. Temperatures will likely be near normal.
