This morning will be cloudy with spells of rain, occasionally heavy. Rain will turn more showery this afternoon, some brightness developing across Argyll, and later elsewhere. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

This evening will see a few showers. The rest of the night will see variable amounts of cloud with further showers or longer spells of rain. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Saturday:

Any overnight showers soon dying out. Then the rest of the day will be dry with sunny spells. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry, bright and warm on Sunday. Mainly dry, bright and very warm on Monday, perhaps the odd shower. Cloudier on Tuesday with a few showers.

High pressure is expected to be dominant at the start of the period, which will bring predominantly fine and dry conditions with temperatures well above normal, albeit with a small risk of a few showers or thunderstorms at times. Into the the last weekend of June, an area of low pressure may track to the west of the UK, which brings the potential for notably hot conditions to build from the south again, alongside a risk of thundery outbreaks. By early July it remains finely balanced as to whether low pressure, and more changeable conditions, are allowed to take over, or whether the more settled conditions hold sway.

High pressure patterns are slightly more likely than low pressure patterns during this period, meaning settled and drier than average conditions are most probable. However, there is still a chance of some changeable, more unsettled conditions could develop at times, and a risk of some heavy and thundery showers. Temperatures are likely to be above normal, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing.
