A dry day to come with plenty of sunshine and variable amounts of fair weather cloud. After a cool start, soon becoming pleasantly warm into the afternoon, though a slight breeze in coastal areas. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Plenty of sunshine this evening, but turning cloudier overnight with showery rain arriving, possibly heavy. Much milder than last night and becoming increasingly humid by the morning. Winds freshening later. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Sunday:

Periods of rain through the morning with heavier bursts possible in places. Much drier by the afternoon with plenty of sunny spells developing. After a humid start, turning fresher. Breezy. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Storm Floris on Monday with unseasonably strong winds likely and some rain too. Travel disruption possible. Bright and breezy on Tuesday then more settled thereafter with winds easing. Turning warmer.

Dry with sunny spells to begin the period as high pressure moves across the UK. The pattern will then likely return to something more broadly changeable. A frontal system will likely lead to spells of rain and showers especially to the north and west. The general westerly pattern will then likely continue for a time with spells of rain or showers and some drier, brighter interludes, especially in the south and east. Temperatures will mainly be near average. As we move towards the middle of the month, there is an increased chance of high pressure becoming more dominant, leading to drier, more settled conditions becoming more widespread and above average temperatures. However, some brief unsettled spells remain possible.

High pressure, and therefore fairly settled conditions overall, appears most likely for the second half of August. The northwest may see more in the way of occasional rain or showers than other areas. Elsewhere, predominantly dry weather is likely to continue, although periods of showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Above average temperatures overall seem most likely, with the potential for hot spells to develop, especially in the east and south, these more probable further into August.
