Today:

It will be a mostly dry day with variable amounts of cloud and some sunny intervals. Chance of a light shower at first this morning, and again along the west coast later this afternoon. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

A few showers along the west coast overnight, otherwise mainly dry. Freshening southerly winds will bring occasional rain to the Western Isles and Skye later. Chilly in the east. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Thursday:

A cloudy day with outbreaks of rain spreading east through the morning followed by a few showers in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mostly dry and bright on Friday but a few showers across the west. Rain will spread east for a time on Saturday. Drier and brighter with a few showers Sunday.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
