Dry this morning with some early brightness in the north. This afternoon will be cloudy and mainly dry although some patchy light rain developing, mainly in the west and north. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

This evening will be cloudy with some patchy rain. Becoming dry overnight with cloud breaking from the northwest. Becoming chilly later in the night with a slight frost in places. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Thursday:

All parts will have a dry day. Some early brightness otherwise clouding over through the morning to leave a rather cloudy afternoon. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Dry with sunny spells on Friday, becoming quite warm in the sunshine. Dry and cloudy on Saturday. Mainly dry on Sunday, perhaps some patchy rain in the afternoon.

A transition to a more changeable and in places rather unsettled spell of weather looks to take place at the start of this period as Atlantic frontal zones cross the UK. These are likely to be most active in the north and somewhat weaker further south, closer to a ridge of high pressure extending northeast from the subtropical Atlantic. It is possible that we may see a briefly widely colder interlude with northerly winds during the final week of March, which would bring the potential for some snow, especially for northern areas. Widely strong winds could also develop around this time. By the end of March, high pressure may become rather more dominant with plenty of dry weather, but with some overnight fog and frost.

Blocked or slowly evolving weather patterns are favoured during the first week or so of April. High pressure is the preferred flavour of this block; this probably centred to the north or northwest of the UK. This means plenty of dry weather, possibly with some pleasantly warm days, but an ongoing chance of overnight fog and frost. Moving further into April, there is an increasing chance that high pressure will become less dominant and thus a greater chance of more places seeing some rain and possible stronger winds from time to time. Overall, temperatures panning out somewhere near to or a little above average.
