Today:

There will be a mixture of some bright or sunny spells along with occasional showers, these sometimes wintry over higher ground. The strong northwest winds, early gales over Buchan, soon moderating. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Still a few showers this evening, wintry on high ground, becoming more isolated then dying out overnight as skies become clear. Winds falling light with a frost. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Monday:

A dry and bright day with plenty of sunshine, the best in the morning with some high cloud arriving in the afternoon. Lighter winds, a gentle southerly later. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunny, breezy and warm on Tuesday, though cooler along North Sea coasts. Cloudier later. Chance of patchy or rain or showers on Wednesday. Sunshine and showers on Thursday.

Changeable with Atlantic frontal systems moving across the UK at times. These will bring spells of unsettled weather, with showers or longer spells of rain and a risk of strong winds. The wettest conditions will probably be in the northwest of the UK, with a risk of snow on high ground in the north. Drier and brighter interludes with lighter winds will develop between frontal systems. Temperatures are expected to be close to average overall, perhaps with some colder spells in the north and warmer conditions in the south at times.

It is probable that more blocked, or at least slowly evolving, weather patterns will become increasingly dominant through late April into May. Whilst confidence is low, this may result in more settled and drier conditions overall, although some more unsettled interludes are still possible at times. Temperatures will probably be close to or above normal for the period as a whole.
