Bright spells, showers Friday morning. Cloudier with some rain later

This Evening and Tonight:

Winds will ease and any lingering rain at first will soon clear away from Shetland this evening, otherwise a few clearer spells but still a risk of showers overnight. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Friday:

A mostly dry but cloudy start, a few showers may develop and more outbreaks of rain moving north over Orkney in the afternoon, reaching Shetland later. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Unsettled over the weekend, short-lived brightness on Saturday morning before a stormy spell with heavy rain at times and gales expected. Brighter day Monday with lighter winds, unsettled again later.

Continuing unsettled into the early part of next week with an Atlantic frontal system expected to bring another spell of wet and windy weather. Through the course of next week, conditions likely turning less unsettled with rain and stronger winds becoming more confined to northwestern areas. Likely turning drier and calmer across the south and east bringing a greater chance of chilly nights and morning fog patches. A similar pattern then likely continuing during early November though with a chance that settled conditions may develop more widely for a time. Temperatures varying around average.

Slowly evolving weather patterns are more likely than normal during early in November which increase the chance of spells of settled and drier weather. Most areas are still likely to see some rain or showers at times but the focus of these more likely across the northwest of the UK. Into mid-November, the chances of a more unsettled weather regime increases again with more frequent spells of rain for many areas and likely windy at times. Some cold nights possible during more settled spells, otherwise temperatures likely to vary around average.
