Friday will start wet with some heavy rain around, coupled with breezy conditions at times. Skies will brighten from the northwest through the morning, leaving a fine afternoon with plenty of sunny spells. Staying breezy, and feeling fresher than recently. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

The odd shower may affect the Peak District overnight, but most places will be dry and there will be clear periods. Winds easing, and turning chilly in some rural spots. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday:

Any early showers should fade on Saturday morning to leave plenty of dry and bright weather with gentle winds. Some cloud arriving from the west later though, and staying fresher. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Very warm sunshine on Sunday, although turning windy. Rain overnight, then sunshine on Monday. Further wet and windy weather arriving later, followed by sunshine and some blustery showers on Tuesday.

Changeable initially, with some dry interludes and relatively cool nights, interspersed with occasional outbreaks of rain or showers arriving from the west, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times too. However, a trend towards more widely settled conditions seems likely from around next weekend and beyond, as high pressure becomes increasingly influential in the vicinity of the UK. This should lead to longer, drier interludes, especially in the south and southwest, with any rain or showers more likely towards the north and east. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, though still with some relatively cool nights at times.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may eventually start to weaken its influence on the weather towards the end of September. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
