The east will be dry with a few clear periods overnight. Dumfries and Galloway will be cloudy with some patchy rain, mainly over the hills. Mild. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Wednesday:

Edinburgh, Lothian and eastern Borders mainly dry with some occasional brightness. Dumfries, Galloway and western Boders cloudy with rain at times. Mild. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain on Thursday. Chance of rain at first on Friday, otherwise bright with a few showers. Rain spreading east later Saturday.

Changeable conditions are expected, with Atlantic frontal systems spreading across the UK, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes. Rainfall will typically be heaviest in the northwest, with much less reaching sheltered eastern areas. Some snow is possible across high ground in the north. Drier and more settled periods perhaps become more prolonged later in the period, especially in the east. Winds will probably be strong at times, with a risk of gales. Temperatures are likely to be near to or slightly above average.

Changeable conditions will probably dominate during this period, with Atlantic frontal systems spreading across the UK. These will bring spells of rain and perhaps strong winds, with the wettest conditions in the northwest. The southeast will likely be driest, perhaps with some longer spells of dry weather developing for the south later. Temperatures are likely to be near to or slightly above normal overall.
