Tonight:

Showers become restricted to northwestern areas with many areas turning partly cloudy and dry through the evening. Cloud building again by dawn but remaining mostly dry. Cooler overnight than recently. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

Mostly cloudy but dry to start, patchy light rain develops through the morning, turning more persistent for a time during the afternoon. Fresh southwest winds. Near average temperatures. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Fresh winds but drier and brighter on Saturday and Sunday, although an isolated shower can't be ruled out. Cloudier into Monday with some light rain at times. Temperatures around average.

The first part of this period will likely see a build of pressure across much of the UK, with Atlantic weather fronts becoming more confined to the far north west. As such, plenty of dry and increasingly warm and perhaps rather humid weather will develop across the majority of areas. Thereafter, likely turning changeable again, with spells of rain and showers interspersed with some short-lived spells of more settled weather and temperatures returning to near normal overall.

Changeable and perhaps unsettled weather may become more frequent as we move into October, with periods of rain and stronger winds becoming more likely to spread from the west, although with some transient drier and brighter spells also. As is not untypical as we move towards mid-October, deeper low pressure systems could bring occasional periods of very strong winds. Temperatures are likely to remain above normal overall, though brief cooler interludes are also possible.
