A band of rain will move southeastwards across England and Wales overnight, reaching southeast England later. Elsewhere there will be clear periods, though with some showers in the north and northwest, where it will also be breezy and rather chilly.

There are growing signs that high pressure, which is likely to still extend across the country at the start of this period, will reduce in its influence through next week. This will allow a more unsettled regime to develop as spells of wet and windy weather arrive from the Atlantic followed by drier though still showery interludes. While there is still a chance that high pressure will build near the UK again during late October, it is more likely that a changeable regime will continue once established. This would see temperature varying around average with some milder spells, especially in the south.
Weather patterns dominanted by westerly or southwesterly winds from the Atlantic are most likely during November. This resulting in occasional spells of wet and windy weather followed by drier but still showery interludes. High pressure may attempt to build across the country at times but any settled spells are most likely to be short-lived. Temperatures are likely to be near or above average overall.
